Early Wednesday morning, Busta Rhymes was absolutely basking in an afterglow at 2:10 a.m. in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. Busta had just performed with Rick Ross, Fabolous, Red Café and Puff Daddy at the Lab nightclub — the collective, wearing T-shirts that read "Invisible Bully," took to the stage to honor the 13th anniversary of the death of Notorious B.I.G.

"Brooklyn is so thorough," Busta yelled in the parking lot. "We seeing U-Haul trucks, we smelling jerk chicken — Brooklyn's reppin', homie."

Busta brought the ruckus with his chorus on "Victory." There was no way Rhymes would have missed saluting his close friend, Biggie.

"God bless Ms. Wallace and thank you so much Ms. Wallace for giving us such greatness. As far as existence is concerned ... Big was greatness as far as existence was concerned," he said. "When I'm sitting in the venue, we sippin' on all type of things and we watching and really being able to appreciate how every single song ... you know how people got their favorites. It's one thing for people to sing their favorites, but it's another when everybody sings the entire catalog. Special homie!"

Buss said the night was just about perfect — however, one person was missing.

"The one thing I definitely feel a little funny about is that the homie Lil Wayne had to go in and the timing was so close to a moment. Not only did he tear it down at Madison Square Garden, I wish he had a couple of more days to be able to come and tear it down for us honoring the legacy of the late great B.I. I'm sure Weezy would have came through and repped with everybody that came through tonight. With that being said, I hope the homie holds his head, do his little stint, 85 percent of his stint, and comes home safe in one piece. Because you really can't cage genius. During 14th anniversary, we wanna see Weezy over here showing love to the late great B.I. Big up to the whole Young Money. Shout-out to the whole Cash Money."

Busta Rhymes Live In The OC

Nytehype and Sullen Clothing presented Busta Rhymes last night at Flight in Huntington Beach for a free show to benefit the Red Cross’ relief for Haiti. Thousands of dollars were raised at the door for the free show that featured the hip-hop artist. The quick 30-minute show included Arab Money, Pass the Pass the Courvoisier, and Whoa, setting the capacity crowd on fire. Power 106’s DJ Reflex DJ’d for his set. OC’s own DJ Boogie threw down beats to warm out the crowd throughout the night.

Raekwon Irving Plaza NYC Concert Recap

Backed only by DJ Symphony on turntables and Raekwon’s brother Don P on vocals, the set could have used the energy of the other rappers who invade the album. Raekwon’s set ran to 90 minutes, but it felt here and gone. It included the appearance of a huge cake in the shape of a purple cassette — the original “Cuban Linx” album, from 1995, is commonly called the Purple Tape — and an assortment of friends and business associates, either texting or appearing to smoke weed onstage. Two notable things happened, neither musical.

The songs came fast, one after another, without stagecraft or pacing. The set went back to early tracks by his old collective, the Wu-Tang Clan, touched on “Cuban Linx” Part 1 and settled in for stretches of the new album, including the scabrous, seedy “Gihad” and the imagistic, violent “Surgical Gloves.”



There weren’t as many Wu-Tang Clan cameos as might have been expected, aside from Cappadonna, who rapped verses on “Ice Cream.” But halfway through, another member of the extended Wu family appeared: Cherry Jones, the mother of the Wu-Tang rapper Ol’ Dirty Bastard, who died in 2004. She and Raekwon hugged, without speaking, for nearly a minute. Raekwon praised Dirty and his mother and then performed “Ason Jones,” a tribute to Dirty on the new CD, with some emotional difficulty, his movements creaky, as if he needed oil. (He stopped the song at one point, shaking his head in sorrow, swearing and then collecting himself.)

Near the end — after the duo Capone-N-Noreaga briefly hijacked the set — Busta Rhymes, a longtime Raekwon booster, came onstage to congratulate his friend. Busta Rhymes likes to talk. Ten minutes later he was still there, praising Raekwon’s rhymes and metaphors. Raekwon slumped against the opposite wall, looking humble, grateful and worn out.

Busta Rhymes And Radio Personality Angie Martinez Visit Shyne In Belize

The entire Wave Radio nation was shocked Sunday night when they heard the voice of Trevor “Busta Rhymes” Smith live on the airwaves. Busta and Angie Martinez stopped by the studio after spending the day with Moses Michael Levy (Shyne) in celebration of his 31st birthday.

Angie Martinez is the most popular radio personality in New York City. Her popularity on the airwave earned her the title of “The Voice of New York.” She was a little emotional when asked how it felt to spend time with a free Moses Michael Levy. She said it was overwhelming and she described him as not only being a great friend but also as a brother.

Though Moses did not go on air, the telephone lines were busy with supporters who wanted to welcome Busta and Angie to Belize and wish Moses a happy birthday. By the time the hour long interview by Wave Radio’s Hyacinth Latchman-Cuellar and Alfrain Supaul was completed, outside of Wave Radio was packed with fans who wanted to meet Busta, Angie and Moses. And though most will remember Busta’s two-minute long display of lyrical genius, what he would like everyone to remember is when he said, “Belize needs to be the place supporting Shyne the most. He has so much love and support outside of Belize but here is where the greatest support needs to come from!”(source)

2009 BET Awards: Creme of the Crop party brings out the stars in Beverly Hills video, photos and report posted

Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) June 30, 2009 -- Interscope Geffen A&M(IGA) Records, Heineken USA, VIBE Magazine, Beats By Dre, and Grey Goose Vodka celebrated the 2009 BET Awards over dinner and music at an exclusive bash hosted at the iconic Beverly Hills eatery Mr. Chow. The most talked-about post awards celebration kept the city of Beverly Hills awake until well after midnight to celebrate the success of several IGA BET Awards nominees and winners. IGA's Keri Hilson and M.I.A. were both winners, for "Best New Artist" and "Best Female Hip Hop Artist," respectively. This power networking dinner hosts Ron Fair, Chairman of Geffen Records, and Troy Marshall Vice President of Promotions celebrated while guests including Bobby Brown enjoyed dinner while drinking a Grey Goose cocktail.

Throughout the night, DJ Phyz Ed, DJ Mars (Keri Hilson's) and Kelly G (BET) played all of the top IGA favorites in the Grey Goose Vodka room. The star-studded guest list included Keri Hilson, Keyshia Cole, Soulja Boy Tell Em, Fabolous, Idris Elba, Niecy Nash, Tamala Jones, Vivica A. Fox, Toni Braxton, Busta Rhymes, Elise Neal, Melody Thorton, LisaRaye McCoy, Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall, Orlando Brown, Doug Christie, Ron Artest, April Scott, Bobby Brown, Pooch Hall, Kym Whitley, Sherri Shepherd, Yung LA, Jazze Pha, Keke Palmer, Raven Symone, and many others.

The tables were embellished with white roses and lilies next to silver personal sized ice bowls with chilling Redbull cans as centerpieces. Eleven dishes for dinner were served with several Mr. Chow's favorites including Ma Mignon, Fresh Seabass, Beijing Chicken, and one special dish created by Mr. Chow which was prepared using Frida Kahlo Tequila, fresh garlic and lobster. Upstairs in one of the private rooms, several BET executives enjoyed the festivities, including Chairman Debra Lee and President of Music Programming/BET Awards Executive Producer Stephen Hill.

Around 10:30 p.m. North Camden Drive was filled with every luxury vehicle with talent waiting to get into the most-talked-about post awards party. A white stretch limo slowly drives down the street with BET Awards Host, Jaime Foxx, wanting to attend as well. Celebrities tired of waiting in the valet line, quickly rushed out their car and walked their way to the party including Sherri Shepherd and Kym Whitley while paparazzi followed them to the red carpet.

Invited guests received Heineken branded souvenir coins which were the signature ticket into the party, and the only way into this exclusive, high-profiled event. Troy Marshall, VP of Promotions, showed Fabolous the Dr. Dre 'Beats By Dre' headphones which were displayed at the entrance of the Heineken USA room. Guests left the night with black leather Jordan bags embroidered with the BET Awards 2009 logo which was filled with Akoo clothing brand.

"Another successful year at Creme Of the Crop, we are happy for our label artist and look forward to seeing them again next year," said Troy Marshall.
