Mark Ronson NYC Concert Recap Round-Up
As reviewed by Puja Patel / Village Voice
Mark Ronson & the Business Intl. played their second homecoming show last night (Tuesday - October 12, 2010) at Webster Hall. The cast of characters for both Ronson's new album and last night's show includes vocalists Alex Greenwald (of Phantom Planet) and Rose Elinor Dougall (of the Pipettes), Amanda Warner (a/k/a MNDR), rappers Q-Tip and Pill, and the surprising, warmly welcomed return of MC Spank Rock. It's an even weirder mix than his first full-length attempt, but if the new one's title, Record Collection, says anything, it's that his mash-up-DJ know-how has continued to translate into a smooth pop sensibility. Basically, if you can do a little bit of everything, and as long as it sounds cool, why not try?

Mark Ronson 'Record Collection' Album Overview With Rolling Stone
Doing pre-production with the Dap-Kings while working in Brooklyn, album appearances with Ghostface and Q-Tip, learning about 70's and 80's synth sounds from Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran, sounds like Mark Ronson's upcoming album Record Collection will offer something new to serve everyones musical taste.
via Rolling Stone
Producer Mark Ronson stepped out of his comfort zone for his upcoming album Record Collection: In addition to relocating the recording from his native London to Brooklyn, Record Collection finds Ronson penning original tracks and not updating covers like he did on his previous solo album Version. He also swapped out the soul and brass sounds he's become known for with vintage synthesizer hooks, and even steps in front of the microphone for a pair of songs. "I kind of didn't mind the way my voice sounded," Ronson tells Rolling Stone in the Fall Fashion showcase in our latest issue.
Go behind the scenes of Ronson's fashion shoot in exclusive footage above, which also features his Business Intl. collaborators Alex Greenwald of Phantom Planet, Rose Dougall and up-and-comer Amanda "MNDR" Warner, who features on Ronson's summer hit "Bang Bang Bang." In the video, Ronson talks about his Duran Duran-inspired shift to a synth-heavy sound, his fast-paced jet-set lifestyle and working with Q-Tip, Ghostface Killah and Spank Rock along with Brit icons like Duran Duran's Simon LeBon and Boy George on Record Collection, due out this fall.

Q-Tip Jumps On Board Mark Ronson's Upcoming 'Record Collection'

Mark Ronson is putting quite a casts of characters on his upcoming album Record Collection and Q-Tip is a nice addition. Expect Record Collection to arrive in September on AlliDo Records.

Mark Ronson has announced details of his first single in more than two years.
'Bang Bang Bang', which features vocals from rapper Q-Tip and electropop singer MNDR, will be released in the UK on July 11.
The track, which also includes a songwriting contribution from Kaiser Chiefs drummer Nick Hodgson, will receive its first play on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show this evening.
Describing the song's origins in a press statement, Ronson said: "When we played all those festivals in 2007, we'd end up in the dance tent.
"And I got so jealous when Justice or Soulwax or Pendulum would go into their double-time breaks, and all the kids would start jumping up and down. And we never had that tempo in our set. So I just wanted that in one of our songs."
'Bang Bang Bang' is the lead single from Ronson's upcoming third album Record Collection.

Mark Ronson & Theophilus London Form New Group - Chauffeur

via BBC Radio
Brooklyn rapper Theophilus London and has teamed up with Black and Gold singer Sam Sparro and Mark Ronson on a new side-project, recording under the alias of Chauffeur.
The supergroup have been laying down tracks in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and the latest edition to their repertoire is a cover of Glamorous Life by Sheila E.
Before Christmas, they premiered their first offering online, an original song called Soles of Fire, in which Theophilus said they are singing about "women and the west-side highway, and the beach".
He seems to be a man of many collaborations, claiming studio time with the likes of Damon Albarn, Solange Knowles and Jack Penate.
Theopilus also hopes to work with BBC Sound of 2010 winner Ellie Goulding this year.
This is all while he's been working on a new solo record called Days Before You Left, which should be done by the Summer.
'We just clicked'
As for how he met Mr Ronson, Theophilus said: "I met Mark a year ago. He asked me to come down to his radio show in New York city and we just clicked. He invited me to his house and we just listened to music for like six hours.
"We became friends and started making music together. His new stuff is sounding really amazing, and it’s just been a great, creative friendship."
He told us what it was like being in the studio with the producer, who's worked with the likes of Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs and Lily Allen.
"He works a lot in his mind," he explained. "He doesn’t really say much but you can tell what he did. He knows when he hears something off and right.
"It’s just a click, it’s a mutual thing in the studio with Mark. He’s easy to work with and he knows what he wants to hear, so it was great."
As for seeing Chauffeur live, he said they've played two shows in New York and are planning a gig in London, late March or April.
