B.o.B. delivered a content-rich set that went from bass-heavy southern rap to power rock halfway through.

The Atlanta native started off strong with such popular songs as the aggressive "Bet I Bust" featuring Playboy Tre, and the chart-topper "Nothing on You."

B.o.B. then switched gears by strapping on guitars, one electric and one acoustic.

One of the set's most memorable moments featured B.o.B. serenading one lucky female fan with the playful "Lovelier Than You," a song that blends singing and rapping with acoustic guitar.

Kid Cudi Returns To Cleveland For Concert Homecoming

“On top of the dreams is where I’m found,” Kid Cudi intoned over a pulsating techno beat during “Cudi Zone,” a highlight of his sold-out performance Friday night (Jan. 15) at the Agora Theatre in Cleveland.

Here was living proof of a show-biz dream come true.

A few years ago, Scott Mescudi was just another struggling hip-hop artist. He was born in Cleveland and raised in Shaker Heights and Solon.

Now he’s up for three Grammy Awards, including best rap song for his breakthrough hit “Day n Nite.” The ceremony is set for Sunday, Jan. 31, in Los Angeles – the day after Cudi’s 26th birthday.

He moved to New York City in 2004, but Cudi remains a homeboy at heart. In concert, he sported a Cleveland Indians cap and liberally sprinkled local references into his tunes.

In return, he got a hero’s welcome from an enthusiastic audience. In the crowd were his mother, Elsie Mescudi, and other family members.

“It’s been a long time since I’ve been home,” said Cudi, last seen onstage here in July at House of Blues.

“I love where I’m from,” he said. “I represent when I can.”

The 80-minute show drew heavily from his 2009 debut album, “Man on the Moon: The End of Day,” including dynamic renditions of “Up Up & Away,” “Solo Dolo” and “Make Her Say.”

Cudi also worked in a few selections (including “Down & Out”) from his Internet-popularized 2008 mixtape, “A Kid Named Cudi,” as well as tastes of recent collaborations with Jay-Z (“Already Home”) and David Guetta (“Memories”).

With his wiry build and hungry attitude, Cudi resembled a shadow boxer as he paced restlessly around the stage, dramatically backlit by multi-colored spotlights.

“I’ve got some issues that nobody can see / And all of these emotions are pouring outta me,” he declared to the tune of “Soundtrack 2 My Life,” a hypnotic ballad.

Unlike a lot of hip-hop hits, Cudi’s songs transcended mere braggadocio. His introspective musings didn’t shy away from dwelling on insecurities and shortcomings.

“Embrace the Martian” and other sci-fi-flavored numbers portrayed him as the ultimate outsider, an otherworldly stranger in a strange land.

The music itself was out of this world, too. Cudi’s distinctive sing-song delivery was matched with futuristic grooves. He eschewed the usual samples of R&B oldies in favor of a forward-thinking, electronica-oriented sound.

Despite the intimations of vulnerability in his lyrics, Cudi revealed an indomitable spirit. It came across loud and clear in “Heart of a Lion,” a hard-charging anthem.

On “Ask About Me” and “Hyyerr,” he traded lines with another Cleveland MC, Chip tha Ripper.

Chip warmed up the crowd with an impressive set of his own. He struck a chord with “Movie” (from his new “The Cleveland Show” mixtape) and other raps delivered with a relaxed command.

Kid Cudi Keeps Them Moving At L.A. Concert With Kanye & Friends

Kid Cudi knows how to make jaws drop.

In fact, after an hour-plus set at Club Nokia in Los Angeles last night (Dec. 22), the capacity crowd was left collectively speechless. Witnessing Cudi live is like seeing Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G. or Eminem in the early days. He doesn't need to do much to impress; rather he's awe-inspiring when he's being himself and letting it all hang out.

Cudi possesses an un-extinguishable fire that makes him simply kinetic on stage. From the first bar's of his Blueprint 3 joint "Already Home," he never stopped moving. As he crooned out the song's chorus with an overpowering intonation, the audience chanted along at each and every word. Cudi doesn't post up in one spot of the stage—he bounces around, flailing, screaming and baring his soul with each rhyme and hook.

A crunchy guitar lead fueled "Down & Out," as Cudi's delivery turned gruff. He fired off the song's rhymes with a palpable passion that hit just as hard as the riff cackling below the song's beats. "Soundtrack 2 My Life" felt just as painfully poignant live as it does on Man On the Moon: The End of Day. Cudi twisted around with a (Korn frontman) Jonathan Davis-style stage catharsis as the audience carried the chorus to the heavens and back for him.

"Simple As…" spun out with a '60s psychedelica vibe that fit the Cleveland MC perfectly. He's like some kind of modern Jimi Hendrix, but instead of weaving intergalactic street poetry with guitar chords, Cudi does it with his vocal cords. "Up, Up, and Away" showed just how well Cudi can sing, as he flawlessly belted out the song's hypnotic chorus and then went back to his trademark rapping seamlessly. The man on the moon is mind-bending to say the least, especially screaming out the last lines of "Heart of a Lion" a cappella, that's right a cappella…no auto-tune here.



The room went straight up ape shit when Kanye West hit the stage for "Make Her Say" though. Mr. West has been laying low recently. In a studded black leather jacket, black shirt and combat boots, he resembled some kind of futurisitic hip hop hero of the apocalypse. Think The Road Warrior goes rap. West's presence was powerful as he ripped through his verse on "Make Her Say" with a new vigor that balanced with Cudi perfectly. "The Good Life" sounded even better, as Kanye cut through the beat and every fan bounced.

Neither Cudi nor Kanye had to say much. However, before debuting a new song, Kanye announced, "It's my first time back in America for the past three or four months. I had to get up out this motherfucker for a second. I love the game so much and I'm so passionate about it that I just can't take this sh*t sometimes."



That passion was in tact during his new freestyle as he declared, "I sold my soul to the devil. I know it's crappy deal, at least it came with a few toys like a happy meal."

Smiles abounded as West ripped up the stage with his new rhymes and promised to hit the studio January 1st, 2010. However one thing that Kanye said truly resonated. "If they take everything away from me, it won't matter. Artists be too afraid."

Thankfully Kanye and Cudi are both fearlessly still elevating the game to the next level. As "Day N Nite" took the crowd back to outer space, one thing was clear, the future has arrived, and it is Kid Cudi. Don't be afraid.

Game & Kid Cudi Live Guest Performers At Robin Thicke L.A. Show

Robin Thicke opened his concert (Dec. 21) Monday night at Club Nokia with "Diamonds," the final track from his new "Sex Therapy" and true to its placement on the album, it felt an awful lot like a closer. The horn section throbbed with disco-soul abandon. The Game showed up to deliver a growly guest verse. And Thicke opened up his ode to maternal resilience to celebrate anyone who'd bought a ticket. "I want you to know you're all diamonds," he said. "Keep on shining!"



"It's in the Mornin" was the rare sexual entreaty in which the narrator celebrates his partner's willingness to "let it marinate." Kid Cudi joined Thicke for a grinding grunge-crunk take on "Elevatas," which Thicke punctuated by quoting Prince's "Let's Go Crazy." And "Shakin' It 4 Daddy" rode a hard digital bounce.

Whatcha Say?: Kid Cudi Exits Gaga Tour Opener Jason Derulo Bumped Up

Kid Cudi -- the guy who sings that "Day 'N Nite" song -- has been officially dropped from the Lady Gaga tour in the wake of a brutal fan-punching incident.

Sources at Interscope Records confirm the rapper is "no longer" with the tour -- but wouldn't say if the decision had anything to do with YouTube footage showing Cudi punching fans in the front row of a concert in Vancouver this past weekend.

We're told Jason Derulo -- the guy who sings "Whatcha Say" -- will move up from his spot as Gaga's opening act to fill Cudi's spot ... no word on who will fill-in Derulo's.

Lady Gaga 'Monster Ball Tour' Steamrolls Through Canada Show Recaps

Things got off to a slow start; the fashion icon was fashionably late. Cheers erupted when the lights finally dropped just before 10 p.m.

She wasn’t ready to come out just yet. A giant screen lit up with a futuristic, glowing green grid. Gaga finally appeared, striking an awkward pose, blond locks cascading over her shoulders, a shimmering mask around her eyes.

She opened with a new song, Dance In the Dark, off her new album The Fame Monster, before following with a string of hits off last year’s The Fame.



Lo and behold, Kid Cudi finally appeared, dropping an engaging freestyle. A vibe was taking hold. She dedicated the heartfelt ballad Speechless to her dad, who was in the audience.

Lady Gaga oozed sexuality, channelling her obvious hero Madonna as dancers grooved and groped alongside the bleached blonde diva.

“I’m about to be very wicked,” she promised.

Then, lying prone at centre stage, her legs splayed in the air, she cooed, “I’m kinda like Tinkerbell.

“When Tinkerbell died, the only way to bring her back to life was if you come for her,” she said, feigning orgasm. “Scream for me Ottawa!”

The tender ballad Speechless gave way to a teasing, barely recognizable solo piano rendering of her name-making hit Poker Face, featuring an appearance from opening act Kid Cudi, who spliced his own Make Her Say in the mix as Gaga crooned.

Kid Cudi Performs At Diesel Event In Miami Beach, FL

Kid Cudi performed at the Paris Theater, Miami Beach, FL as part of the Diesel:U:Music event as well as an in-store meet and greet earlier on Tuesday, November 17.

In order to get a ticket to the Paris Theater event, you either had to be invited or had visited a particular Diesel store location within the past four days. The free event gave concert-goers the chance to jam to some of the brightest new stars in music – Kid Cudi, Santigold and more.

Kid Cudi’s single “Day and Night” can be heard atop both the hip hop charts and the indie charts. The Brooklyn native is known for his hip-hop feel with a rock lover’s twist. He danced, almost convulsing to the beat around the circular stage, even commenting on how fun it was to run around a round stage. He made sure to pay attention to the crowd with several handshakes.



Santigold made a huge Miami appearance at Ultra Music festival in May 2009, and was part of the starting line-up. Headlining the show after Kid Cudi, it was obvious that the crowd came for her. The crowd sang so loud you could barely hear her voice over it. Her live show touched mainly on her album Santogold.

Kanye West suprised loads of Cork music fans by turning up last night to my Jam night in the Pavilion in Cork and performing alongside fellow rapper Kid Cudi at an intimate gig by hot U.S. supergroup N.A.S.A.! Earlier Kanye had rocked Live at the Marquee in Cork for the 3rd time but the 300 strong crowd at the much smaller Pavilion couldn't believe it when he took to the stage just after 1 a.m. and rapped on his own "Gifted" track from N.A.S.A.'s "Spirit of the Apollo" album, which features guests such as Kanye, Tom Waits, M.I.A, George Clinton and more.
