Nelly Shoots New Music Video With Brother, St. Lunatics' City Spud
via My Fox - St. Louis
Nelly and the St. Lunatics are releasing a new album called, City Free. This is the first time in nearly ten years since the St. Lunatics have been in the studio together. The group stopped recording after their debut album was released nearly ten years ago because rapper and co-producer, City Spud was sent to jail on an assault charge. The St. Lunatics vowed not to record again as a group until he was released. Well, City Spud is back after serving nearly nine years behind bars, and he's excited about the project. "It's real special to us because it's all of us in the studio again having fun being brothers like we are," said City Spud.
Nelly looked on admiringly as City Spud rapped on the St. Lunatics' new single, 'Money Talks' during the filming of the music video for the project at Visiontracks in Fenton. "We didn't feel right doing another project without him being involved. the time has come and we're excited about it."
Nelly says,"The first album was called 'Free City' which was in honor of my little brother City Spud. Now he's free so the new album is called 'City FREE'."
At one point during the filming Nelly conferred with City Spud and couldn't stop beaming. "We're just excited that he's enjoying it. You know what i'm saying so that's a big thing for us."
Nelly is one of the biggest names in rap music, selling millions of albums. He hasn't forgotten how hard he worked to achieve his success. "It took nine years, you what i'm saying? You talk to some people they've been doing this for nine months and expect it to happen, and you're like man it took us nine years and you think it's going to happen like that."
Nelly is a native St. Louisian who still lives in the city and gives to the city, not because he has to, but because he wants to. "This is home. I'm one of them kids that comes from St. Louis that life wasn't always the easiet and always didn't have what they needed at the time, but i thought it would be cool to give kids something unexpected to them."
Now that City Spud is back with Nelly and the St. Lunatics, expect more big things from the dynamic duo.

Nelly Gets 2011 Ford Mustang Customized By DUB Magazine Featured In Upcoming Album Artwork

via the press release
The 2011 Mustang 5.0-liter V-8 is set to make its hip-hop debut alongside Grammy Award-winning artist Nelly as part of his upcoming album's artwork. The album, set to launch this spring, will feature a tricked-out 2011 Mustang GT customized by DUB Magazine.
The 35-year-old rapper, actor and mogul, who was most recently ranked third on Billboard Magazine's "Artist of the Decade List," says the Mustang is one of the hottest muscle cars ever to hit the streets.
"I don't care where you grew up, everyone knows the Mustang. At some point, you've had a conversation about a Mustang – and it was probably one about you wanting to get behind the wheel of one," says Nelly. "I've always loved the Mustang; the vehicle has power to the point where you can't help but want to hit the pedal. And the newest one? More power, hotter style."
Nelly's tricked-out Mustang GT came to life after the artist caught a glimpse of the vehicle while inside the walls of Ford's design studio a little more than a year ago as part of a partnership tied to the launch of the 2009 Ford Flex. Since then, Nelly has collaborated with Ford's design team and DUB's customization team to make the Mustang his own while still keeping the vehicle true to its muscle car roots.
Crystal Worthem, Ford's Multicultural Marketing communications manager, says Nelly is an amazing partner for Ford: Nelly has an impressive history within the entertainment world, just as the Mustang has a strong history within the automotive world.
"Nelly is a true car guy, there's no denying that. When Nelly expressed interest in wanting to partner with Ford on the all-new 2011 Ford Mustang GT, we knew it was a perfect fit," said Worthem.
"The Mustang has such appeal within the urban market. Since it was launched, the vehicle has made appearances in several of the most popular urban films," Worthem added. "This was just a great opportunity for Ford, and we're excited that the Mustang GT is going to be a part of one of the most anticipated albums of 2010."
The exterior of the vehicle features a custom gloss black paint job with flat black racing stripes and a one off custom wide body Street Scene body kit complete with custom 22- and 24-inch TIS Modular wheels and Pirelli tires. The vehicle also includes a billet grille, hood scoop, tinted taillights, Eibach springs, angel eyes headlights and a Borla exhaust.
In addition, the interior is a complete suede and leather design with a custom JL Audio system that includes two 12-inch subwoofers, amps and speakers.
Nelly says he can't wait to hit the streets in his 2011 Mustang GT.
"I'm itching to get behind the wheel of my Mustang and really take it out on the streets. This vehicle being a part of my album artwork is just a reflection of the direction and feel that the album has. To be able to partner with Ford again on another vehicle that is going to change the automotive game is exciting," said Nelly.

St. Lunatics' Murphy Lee In-Store & Toy Drive Event @ Vintage Vinyl St. Louis
As reported by Jeff Bernthal at St. Louis Fox TV
ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) - A Grammy winner from St. Louis is in the U-city Loop, (Dec. 16) Wednesday night. Murphy Lee of St. Lunatic's Fame is behind a toy drive that he hopes becomes an annual tradition, "I had a dream last night. It was just one person in the store. It was just me and one of my, my number one fan." His nightmare did not come true. Plenty of fans lined up at Vintage Vinyl for a chance to meet him. He said, "Feels good to be Murphy Lee today."
You could say he's living a dream. That's because this multi-platinum selling artist is about to reach another milestone. He's releasing his latest project, Age of 21 along with a DVD. He decided to combine this signing event with a toy drive, "It's just, it's just my duty, you know, I have kids and they kind of get what they want out of me, so it's great to be able to help, help others."
Lee hopes his success story is an inspiration to others. The St. Louis native now owns his own recording label, "I went to school. I graduated. I formed my career, took my career to another level, now I'm an entrepreneur."
Lee also hopes to bridge what he calls a generation gap. He thinks parents have a hard time understanding today's kids, "All we see is that they're wilding out, they're going crazy out there and really they're striving and asking for attention so much."
Lee hopes the attention on this toy drive will remind his fans success isn't just about making money - it's also about giving back.
Some of the toys will go to Project Ark, an agency helping kids affected by AIDS. The others will go to a Christmas wish party sponsored by the Demetrius Johnson Foundation.

Nelly: Apple Bottoms Fragrance Atlanta In-Store Event

Hip-hop music star Nelly spent the last couple of days in Atlanta, not for anything related to music but to promote a new fragrance from his fashion line Apple Bottoms and put in some time for one of his two philanthropic causes. Nelly spent Friday visiting the bone marrow transplant unit at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. About 25 kids got play games with him and received early Christmas presents from Macy’s.
On Saturday, a special bone marrow transplant recipient named Jerry Jones got to shadow Nelly as his made the rounds at Macy’s at Lenox Square courtesy of Macy’s who granted Jerry a special wish. We talked with the Grammy winning artist before his appearance with fans in the store. Here’s what he had to say:
On his Friday visit to the bone marrow transplant unit at Children’s Healthcare: “This is something I like to do just to make people aware [of the need for bone marrow donors]. .. Jes Us 4 Jackie is in honor of my sister who died in June 05 from leukemia. We didn’t find a donor for my sister, but were able to find donors for seven other needy people. It’s about keeping the memory alive. We need a lot more people to step up. And more African Americans would be beautiful.”
On the new Apple Bottom fragrance released this fall: “It’s not overpowering. It’s real light – for every day wear.” On launching a new upcoming line of bed linens: “Now women can have Apple Bottoms during the day and can go to sleep with Apple Bottoms at night. We’re getting our Martha Stewart on.”
On his new album set for release next spring: “It’s not yet titled, but I’m working with some different people – pushing some new boundaries” to reach some households not necessarily into hip hop. On hanging out with 17-year-old Jerry: “I’m feeling myself right now. Somebody made me a wish!
On hanging out at the clubs: “You have to, to be in the game. You can’t want to be into music but don’t want to be in the inspiration that makes it happen. I learn that from JD [Jermaine Durpi] He goes to the club, observing, taking it all in. You need to be there to see [what people like to dance to].
On his favorite place to eat when he’s in Atlanta: “I love Gladys Knight’s [and Ron Winan’s] Chicken & Waffles. I’m probably the only one who can get takeout on Sunday’s. And I like to go to Justin’s. I try to support the people I feel like I know. I don’t know Gladys Knight, but I feel like I could have been on of the Pips.”

Nelly's 4th Annual Black & White Ball In St. Louis Recap
Courtesy of the St. Louis American
Last night (Sun., Dec. 6) at 1 a.m., the Chase Park Plaza had to shut the party down to make it stop at Nelly’s 4th Annual Black and White Ball. When staff informed Nelly and the powers that be it was time to call it a night, people were still going hard.
They were on the stage and on the floor rapping’ and dancing along to some of the songs that Nelly and the St. Lunatics made famous as well as hits from back when they first started on the scene mixed with current hip-hop hits. Folks got down, but the whole point of the event was to help students move forward with their education.
Earlier in the night, Nelly announced – along with the Black Student Union of Lindenwood University – the launching of the 2010 Black and White Scholarship Program that would provide a full tuition scholarship for two deserving students.
“I feel like I don’t have a choice to do this,” Nelly said about his decision to use his star power on behalf of the community. “This is something that I must do.”
In the short formal element of the program, Nelly kept his comments brief. He was preceded by video footage of scholarship recipients expressing their thanks and gratitude to the Grammy-Award winning multiplatinum selling rapper for aiding them in their educational endeavors.
Following the short formal program, partygoers got down to business and hit the dance floor while Mario, Nelly and the St. Lunatics performed on stage for the duration of the night.
Jermaine Dupri, Mario, Bill Bellamy joined dozens of local notables – including legendary athlete Jackie-Joyner Kersee – were among the evenings special guests.
