Snoop Dogg Performs His Classics At The W Hotel 1st Anniversary Bash In Hoboken, NJ
NJ.com had this to say about the W Hotel 1st Anniversary Bash with Snoop performing on Thursday, April 15...
Well, it was an hour and a half after he was supposed to take the stage, but Snoop Dogg is finally doing his show here at the W hotel in Hoboken, which is celebrating its first anniversary with a celebrity bash.
Not surprisingly, the unmistakable smell of a certain contraband item wafted through the ballroom before Snoop Dogg took the stage, but no one in the room really seems to care.
The guests in the cheap seats, mostly people with ties to the fashion industry, danced to the deejay's selections beforehand. People in a roped off reserved section were waited on by waitresses while guards in suits kept the riffraff out.

Rihanna Dodges Chris Brown And Bottles In Nightclub Brawl

via metro.co.uk
The frightening incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, as Rihanna was sitting and drinking in Miami's Liv club with US reality star Kim Kardashian and music producer Timbaland.
Suddenly five magnum-sized bottles of champagne rained down from the balcony above, one just missing the Barbadian singer as it smashed on the floor. The hooligans shouted '"Touchdown!" as each bottle shattered on the floor.
Someone from Rihanna's table returned fire with a bottle of their own... prompting an even bigger bottle to be hurled from above.
At this point, security waded in, and the DJ stopped the party with the words: "Everybody get the f**k out! Super Bowl is ruined." A terrified, screaming Rihanna was ushered away.
It was Rihanna's second near miss of the night.
Earlier she had been heading for the powder room when she nearly bumped into her ex, Chris Brown, who was also in the club.
Chris hadn't noticed her before his security stepped in and steered him away from an awkward, not to mention illegal, encounter - he's still under a restraining order after beating her up last year.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs At BET Honors Pre-Party + BET Honors Show Photo Links
about the 3rd Annual BET Honors via the press release
THE BET HONORS Premieres on Monday, February 1, at 9:00 p.m.
NEW YORK, Jan. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- With the help of the entertainment industry's finest, BET Networks honored distinguished African Americans performing at exceptional levels in their fields by presenting the third annual BET HONORS. Hosted by the beautiful and talented actress Gabrielle Union, this phenomenal show will premiere during Black History Month, on Monday, February 1 at 9:00 p.m.
The 2010 honorees included legendary songstress Whitney Houston (Entertainment), multi-faceted entertainer Queen Latifah (Media), respected business mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs (Entrepreneur), accomplished educator Dr. Ruth Simmons (Education), and world-renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Keith Black (Public Service). Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, India.Arie, ELEW and others will pay tribute to these phenomenal stars with riveting performances.
BET Networks Chairman and CEO Debra L. Lee and the Honorable Mayor Adrian Fenty of Washington, D.C. welcomed the audience. Both Lee and Mayor Fenty called out to viewers and audience members alike to support relief efforts for those who were affected by the recent devastating earthquake in Haiti. Lee also referenced BET's own initiatives as part of the worldwide effort to aid Haiti.
"Before this disaster, BET Networks, in celebration of its 30th anniversary, was set to donate thirty thousand dollars every month for a year to an organization that has dedicated itself to working towards a brighter future for the African American community," said Lee in her remarks. "In light of the devastation in Haiti, BET plans to donate the first grant to immediate emergency relief in Haiti."
Following Lee's remarks, Stevie Wonder, Trey Songz and India.Arie delivered a soulful rendition of the "Wake Up Everybody" in memory of the recent passing of soul-man extraordinaire, Teddy Pendergrass and his message of hope and commitment to the community.
Queen Latifah, this year's recipient of the BET Honor for Media, was presented with her award by the talented and always hilarious Taraji P. Henson, while R&B songstress Jazmine Sullivan performed soul-stirring interpretations of "Unforgettable" and "Rock Steady." Next, the powerhouse legend Patti Labelle performed "If Only You Knew." Actor and comedian Chris Tucker then introduced the Public Service award honoree, neurosurgeon Dr. Keith Black, who was treated to an extraordinary performance of "Can't Imagine Love Without You" by the iconic Stevie Wonder accompanied by Take 6.
Hip-hop pioneer Andre Harrell presented his longtime friend Sean "Diddy" Combs with the Entrepreneur BET Honor. 2009 BET HONORS recipient Mary J. Blige performed a medley of her greatest hits "Love No Limit," "I Love You," and "Be Happy," as a personal tribute to her mentor and friend. During his heartfelt acceptance speech, Diddy attributed his success to his mother's tireless work ethic, also giving credit to the hip-hop community.
BET Networks also paid tribute to Dr. Ruth Simmons (Public Service), who was presented with her award by veteran actress Victoria Rowell. It was followed by the moving performance by India.Arie, who was accompanied by pianist ELEW (Eric Lewis), with songs "Beautiful Flower" and "Someday We'll All Be Free."
Lastly, Whitney Houston was on her feet for a surprise soul-rousing performance by one of her favorite artists, gospel great Kim Burrell singing "I Believe In You and Me." And if that wasn't enough, Jennifer Hudson brought the crowd to its feet singing Houston's chart-topping "I Will Always Love You," as she was presented with The BET Honor for Entertainment by Ne-Yo.
Other highlights of the show included Trey Songz and Stevie Wonder's medley of each other's hits, "That Girl" and "Invented Sex," as well as Ryan Leslie performing his latest single "I Choose You." Maxwell also performed "Fist Full of Tears" and "Forgive Me."

50 Cent New Year's Eve At PURE Nightclub Las Vegas On The Red Carpet
via Las Vegas Weekly
As the last hour of 2009 ticked by on screens around the five-year-old club, a steady stream of guests and VIPs poured into the venue. Dressed in a sleek black ensemble of shine and lace topped with a structured blazer and shoulder pads, 24-year-old songstress Ciara stalked the red carpet outside Pure with a crew of female friends waiting to accompany her inside.
"I never really go out that often," said the singer who is reportedly dating 50 Cent, "so I'm just excited to go out and have a good time and enjoy myself."
If she hasn't been devoting much time to partying, maybe it's because Ciara simply hasn't had the time. In 2009, the multi-platinum selling artist behind tracks "Like a Boy" and "1,2 Step" released her third album, Fantasy Ride, toured with Jay-Z and made commercial appearances. Ciara seems to have had a better 2009 than most. She summed up her year as "pretty eventful, pretty fun, pretty prosperous, pretty great." Sounds pretty rare, too.
50 Cent also seemed to have missed out on some quality time in Las Vegas clubs. The rapper was last in town in April when he spent time in the Palms recording studio with Dr. Dre and Eminem for his Curtis album. "We got the chance to go to the movies a couple of times, but we didn't go out and party," 50 Cent explained.
Consider New Year's Eve making up for lost time, then.
50 started his performance on the Pure roof deck, welcoming 2010 with his suggestively titled song "Have a Baby By Me, Baby, Be a Millionaire." About half an hour past midnight, the concert continued in the club's main room.
"2010! We gonna ring it in right," the rapper called from the stage, now out of the black brocade jacket he sported for his walk down the red carpet and wearing a white jacket and his standard issue Yankees hat.
Standing next to boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr, who obligingly held up a stack of cash, 50 launched into the first song of his roughly 45-minute set, "I Got Money." The pair played off each other throughout 50's 13-song tour through his hits with so much chemistry, Mayweather might consider joining the music man on his next tour. When 50 called out "I get money!", Mayweather held up his own pile of bills, fanning them out for all to see. It was like a beautiful interpretive dance, with Benjamins.
"In Da Club," "Candy Shop," "Magic Stick," "Hate It Or Love It," "P-I-M-P" and "If I Can't" — the set list read like a track list for his greatest hits project. Surrounded by bodyguards — getting shot nine times would make anyone paranoid — 50 Cent plowed through his four-album catalog, and all the while a dapper Mayweather danced alongside, flipping off the crowd and even making it rain what looked like $100s for a moment above the packed club.
After performing for nearly an hour, 50 Cent closed out his set in an auditory hail of gunfire with the sound of shots echoing out of the speakers, as if to remind the crowd of the street legitimacy behind the now wealthy musician.
"Party time," 50 said before the spotlight suddenly cut out and he disappeared into the crowd encircled by burly men in black. Who doesn't love a dramatic exit?

Nelly's 4th Annual Black & White Ball In St. Louis Recap
Courtesy of the St. Louis American
Last night (Sun., Dec. 6) at 1 a.m., the Chase Park Plaza had to shut the party down to make it stop at Nelly’s 4th Annual Black and White Ball. When staff informed Nelly and the powers that be it was time to call it a night, people were still going hard.
They were on the stage and on the floor rapping’ and dancing along to some of the songs that Nelly and the St. Lunatics made famous as well as hits from back when they first started on the scene mixed with current hip-hop hits. Folks got down, but the whole point of the event was to help students move forward with their education.
Earlier in the night, Nelly announced – along with the Black Student Union of Lindenwood University – the launching of the 2010 Black and White Scholarship Program that would provide a full tuition scholarship for two deserving students.
“I feel like I don’t have a choice to do this,” Nelly said about his decision to use his star power on behalf of the community. “This is something that I must do.”
In the short formal element of the program, Nelly kept his comments brief. He was preceded by video footage of scholarship recipients expressing their thanks and gratitude to the Grammy-Award winning multiplatinum selling rapper for aiding them in their educational endeavors.
Following the short formal program, partygoers got down to business and hit the dance floor while Mario, Nelly and the St. Lunatics performed on stage for the duration of the night.
Jermaine Dupri, Mario, Bill Bellamy joined dozens of local notables – including legendary athlete Jackie-Joyner Kersee – were among the evenings special guests.

Diddy, R. Kelly Each Pay A Visit To Miami

via the Miami Herald
This holiday weekend, two of R&B and hip-hop's biggest names chose Miami as their party destination.
Part-time Star Island resident Diddy, known for throwing famous white parties, hosted a black party on Friday at Mansion in honor of the biggest holiday shopping day of the year.
Hmm, we wonder what the hip-hop star wants for Christmas?
Perhaps love is on his wish list.
The handsome actor/singer generously posed for pics with several eager ladies before heading out around 3 a.m. But his weekend didn't stop there.
The party boy attended R. Kelly's concert Saturday night at the James L. Knight Center. The concert was part of Kelly's Ladies Make Some Noise tour.
At the show, the sexy crooner gave fans a sneak peek of songs from his new album, Untitled (in stores Tuesday). But most ladies seemed more into his older hits, including I'm a Flirt and Bump N Grind.
Diddy tweeted about his friend's performance, ``At rkelly concert in miami! He's rippin this s--- down!!!!''
Kelly later hosted an album release party at Karu & Y where ladies tried to sneak into the VIP section to get up close to the Chicago native. However, the Down Low singer kept to himself, shying away from reporters and cameramen on the red carpet.

Sean 'Diddy' Combs Celebrates 40th Birthday In Style
via MTV
NEW YORK — Still fly, still relevant, still making multiple hustles lucrative. Sean "Diddy" Combs is 40 years old. The money in the room was anything but dirty on Thursday night, as Diddy celebrated his birthday (which was actually November 4) in the Grand Ballroom of the Plaza Hotel. The atmosphere was almost like Garden of Eden meets "The Godfather," with trees, grass and black decorations. Diddy and his goodfellas came dressed in tuxedos, the ladies in elegant gowns, and all were greeted by ballerinas serving drinks.
A little before midnight, the host walked in with a huge entourage that included Trey Songz, Tyrese, Red Café, Andre Harrell and director F. Gary Gray. Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Kim Kardashian, Martha Stewart, Gayle King, Jimmy Fallon, Bell Biv DeVoe, Jimmy Iovine, Bono and countless others all came to express their love for one of the most important figures in music over the past two decades.
"Some people start at 19, [by] 26 they're done. He's 40. He's better than he's ever been," Russell Simmons marveled. "He's hotter now than ever. I just watch him. He keeps getting better. He never changes with the hustle. He branches out in different areas, opens new doors. He's an inspiration."
