Here's what the Austin-American Statesman said about Mos Def's Saturday October 3 performance at Zilker Park, Day 2 of the Austin City Limits Festival:
First, Mos Def took the Dell stage about 20 minutes after his 6 p.m. start time Saturday evening.
Mos (Def) was nearly unrecognizable at first, playing percussion over funk vamps. This was hip-hop as jam band. So far so good, more or less. But when it he going to grab that mic and just kill it?

Judging by the review, sounds like Mos Def really had a off night (or at least the reviewer though so), not really connecting with the audience at all. Not every show can be spectacular.
